HELON HABILA is a symbol of Klamidas' vision of offering services and
products which would enhance the work of individuals and structures engaged in "creating, communicating and consolidating
progressive ideas." First
published by Klamidas in 1993 ("The Embrace of the Snake," Through Laughter and Tears) when he was a student in
the University of Jos, Helon Habila has since developed into an international writer. He won the Caine Prize for African Fiction
(short story) in 2001 and the Commonwealth Writers Prize (Best First Book, Africa Region) in 2003. His books include Waiting
for an Angel, and Measuring Time. Other
writers published in that historic anthology and who later made their mark as writers include Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo (winner
of LNG-sponsored Nigeria Prize for Literature), Obiwu (Director of the Writing Center at Central State University in Wilberforce,
Ohio, and Winner of Phi Beta Delta award) and Wale Okediran (President of Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA).
